The  gros tournoi was created by Louis IX around 1266. It’s the first heavy silver coinage produced at the north of the Alps. It weighed 4,22 g, silver composed 11th/12 of the coin, and valued 12 sous (the value was embodied by the 12 fleurs de lys)
